These atolls form part of the Tuamotu archipelago, the largest chain of coral atolls in the world, and are one of the highlights of South Pacific cruising. Each atoll is a ring of coral, topped with sandy islets surrounding a lagoon. The clear waters are abundant with reef fish and large pelagic fish are often spotted in the passes.
